We know packing can feel like a lot - especially if it’s your first time. The easiest way to think about it: pack your items like you’re shipping them home. We’ll coordinate with Housing to access your room, measure everything, place zip ties to secure bins, and then safely store your items in our climate-controlled facility. You’re in great hands—we’re a top-rated local company, and we take pride in treating your stuff like it’s our own.

Please remember: We are not a packing service.
All items must be packed and ready to go. Anything not packed properly may not be accepted.

How to Leave Your Items for Pickup:

  • Organize your items neatly in your room. Keep everything you're storing grouped together.
  • Make sure labels are facing forward so we can see them easily.
  • Keep your storage items separate from anything you’re not storing to avoid mix-ups.
  • Make sure your name is on your items!
    You can write it on a piece of tape or print a label from your Lookbook (student) AT HOME tab to avoid any mix-ups.
  • We’ll measure and barcode your items at pickup — just make sure they’re packed safely for easy moving and storage!

Can I store these?

  • Bike, mini-fridge, microwave? Yes — as long as they’re clean, dry, and safe to move.
  • TV? Yes, but only if it’s in a properly fitting box and sealed.
  • Clear plastic bins? Only if empty and nested. These crack easily when full.

Don’t forget! These must be boxed:

  • Lamps
  • Mirrors
  • Artwork

We cannot take:

  • Flimsy furniture
  • Trash bags
  • Overflowing hampers
  • Plastic drawers full of loose items

Unattended Items at Your Own Risk: If students leave boxes or items unattended for pickup, Stow Simple is not liable for theft or damage to those items. You bear full responsibility and assume all risk for any items left unattended or without a representative present at the time of pickup. We are not liable for loss, damage, or disappearance of any such items, unless directly caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct. This includes items that were moved or removed before our team's arrival.

If USPS or FedEx wouldn’t take it, we won’t either. Final decisions are made at pickup to keep everyone safe.

Please refer to UM Guidelines for checkout. There is a $30 per-item fee to dispose of items unsuitable for storage.

How will I know when my items are stowed? You will receive an email with an itemized list of all items stored after pickup. Appointment-free pickups will begin the first Monday after Housing has closed.
